Our Buddhist retreat center in Amden fully runs on a voluntary basis. The operations group as well as friends from all over Switzerland and the neighboring countries participate e.g. by being “on-duties” who take daily or half-daily responsibility.
All guests at the Bellevue support our center by doing approximately 1-2 h a day of volunteer work and take care of cleaning their room before departure, which enables us to keep the prices low. Hence, retreat visitors are limited to practitioners of the Karma Kagyu Lineage.
Buddhist centers, from near and far, offer to host weekends (annually, bi-annually or monthly). Being a host means to cook for the guests and thus ease the work load of the tenants and René, our center’s cook. Such weekends frequently lead to wonderful personal connections and friendships and we encourage each center to participate.
